The Grayling were all gathered up wherever a creek or river entered the lake. They have never seen a lure. One after another after another. The most fun was spotting the biggest one and targeting that fish, maneuvering the lure around the other fish. We would plan out the cast and the retrieve and do a play by play announcement.

The fish in Lake Clark haven't seen lures. It's amazing to look down about 25 feet and see a lake trout, dangle something shiny in front of it and watch what happens. I'll post some pictures of grayling too. After 30 fish in a row we started yanking the spinner away from the smaller ones to get at the big ones. What a blast.

Fishing by yourself can be challenging. When I got this fish close enough I tried to gaff it but the gaff was knocked out of my hand into the water and started floating away. I put the rod in a rod holder, with the fish still on the line and started swimming after my gaff. By the time I reached it and turned around to swim back, the boat was a long way from me. But, I made it back, reeled in the fish, got it in the box and started laughing my butt off because the only people who knew what had just happened were the people on a passing cruise ship that might have witnessed it.
